Sands Resort/Myrlte Beach

Am planning a trip to Myrtle Beach in August with my husband and another couple. Staying at the Sands. Any reviews would be appreciated. How about nearby seafood restaurants. What attractions could be walk to?

Stayed at Sands Ocean Forest Villas in April. it was supposed to be a family style place -- no parties, large groups, motorcycles, etc. The week we were there, there was a group of over 130 high school kids from Detroit -- loud, noisy, never slept and would not get out of people's way when they were just trying to exit the property in a car -- blocked the entrances for as long as they wished, then glared and moved on. As for the unit itse;f, it was fairly nice, but when we were there we had to use heat instead of AC it was so cold and damp. Hope you have better luck.

If you decide not to stay at the Sands, you might want to try Forest Dunes(www.forestdunes.com). They are very nice and in a very nice part of town. We've always had a great time there.

Stayed at the Sands Resort Hotel at N. 76th St. last month. It was nice with a few exceptions. Construction on new tower was nearing completion and this created a LOT of dust, and unpleasantness, such as construction vehicles, construction materials all over the place, confusion as to where to park and how to get into the hotel. That being said, the hotel itself was good. Our efficiency room was a bit small and next time (yes, I'd stay there again) I'll request a different type of room. Our efficiency did not have a full sized refrigerator or stove , so some of the food we had brought would not fit into the refrigerator. The hotel offers a free breakfast if you get the golf package and kids eat free at breakfast. It's buffet style, so by day three the food was getting boring. All in all, a good place to stay for the family.
