San Franciso, CA!

Weekend trip in October...yes, I know it is very early.....but I was lucky to get in to the Nike Women's Marathon!!! OK, its a random drawing to get in, and I am random, so I got in!! OHHOHOHOHOHO. I am so excited. So excited that I started running (again) this evening. I've been walking Big Dog and Jack. Jack is the aforementioned puppy in previous posts.....Big Dog is my Big Dog. Both are asleep right now......
I am not one who has my Tiffany diamond or my Cartier pen, but they present a Tiffany Diamond necklace to the finishers......They, I've heard, are firemen in tuxes....rumors...

Do you have a suggestion for a cute Bed and Breakfast for probably 4-5 women. My mom and her friends, my cousin, and me. They are coming along for fun. I am the sucker for a diamond.....I always joked that I'd buy my own diamond ring, since Mr. Right hadn't shown up yet and that made my mom cry. ???? So, I don't joke anymore, but now I can at least run my tush off to get in shape for Mr. Right....and have a diamond around my neck when I meet him.

Any comments (Kind comments) questions etc, and I'll answer them, so we can widdle down the choices for places to stay. Probably best under $200 per night per room, if at all possible. I am going to begin my search right now. You're probably laughing at the under $200 thought....as I haven't priced the rooms yet either....

Ok, let the suggestions/questions/ comments begin. Thank you in advance.....

Congratulations!

Hope you win the diamond necklace!

Under $200 is doable, especially if you use Priceline. Have you ever tried Priceline before?

You'll probably want to be near Union Square and right now, people are getting the Westin St Francis for $70+ and added taxes and fees, which would make it come out about $85 total.

If you have not bid on Priceline before, please do come back here and ask. Fodorites were the ones who taught me how to use Priceline!

Again, congratulations!

I'm very excited for you! My good friend has been running in that race each year and loves it, and my DD walked it this year. It's a gorgeous route. If you want me to put you in touch with my friend, let me know. She is very enthusiastic about it.

I went up this year at around 6am and it was a blast to see the runners start - and then to be alone at dawn in that great city. I wandered all over - no traffic. Had a blast.

The weather is usually great then, too.

Here is a rundown on B&Bs in the Noe Valley (my favorite neighborhood in SF)

No, not early! Lots of people will be coming to the marathon, in addition to regulars as October is still high season.

Are you looking for 5 people on one room, or 2 rooms? Or a suite?

I believe the marathon starts at something like 5 AM in Union Square, so staying out in Noe Valley or the Marina (Cow Hollow) may not be the best choice. Priceline for USE is a good option.

easytraveler ~ I mapquested Tiffany & CO in Union Square today and saw ridiculous prices when I went to the Westin website, since its in the neighborhood. I'll check out Priceline. As a matter of fact, I'll check out all of the suggestions above.

PamSF ~ I read your suggestion, and first thought Holy Cow.....instead of Cow Hollow!

Dayenu ~ Not early for season...early for now vs later.

So, I signed up with a team, and apparently everyone got in. I didn't know....that if you run the 1/2 marathon, you get the necklace too. UGH. So, I am doing twice the work....

The run, according to the calendar, is in 30 weeks. Increase my mileage on my long run by 1 mile a week, and in 30 weeks, I'll be a hot mama running for the gold...I mean diamond. But I looked at the Tiffany shop website. You can get a key on a necklace for $150.... but at least this way, I'll get my tush in shape. I'll keep you posted, but may have to change the name of the post, to keep things interesting....I'll letcha know what I do....although for safety and security, I won't give away my sleeping location until AFTER the event. Deal!?

Let's see what else?? Now that I have my entry, I see that I requested 2 viewer passes...which means my mom and one other person. So there will be three of us, in my group. In the team realm, one of the gals from Durango asked me to come with her and her friends and stay in the Presidio area....be a local chick with the local chicks. That sounds like fun, but I may have to meet up with them, because I'd really like to have my mom come along...again, I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for your encouragement. I've started training.....jogging with my dogs. Or dogging with my jogs.
Either way. I am getting shape.
