I agree -- 380/280 is a bit counter intuitive and can be confusing to first timers.

You don't have to go back to 380 to get to 280. You can go 101/92/280/85/101.

I would think if they are coming from the SF Airport area it is easy. As I recall there is a giant freeway sign that says 380 to 280.

If your visitors are getting lost then you are probably giving inadequate directions. It's better to say for example "380 west toward San Bruno". And tell them which lane to be in.

A good option if they are near Burlingame is to take Trousdale across to 280. After stopping at Lunardi's for supplies, of course.

mlgb, you and I have never interacted on this board to the best of my recollection, so I will assume that your statement "If your visitors are getting lost then you are probably giving inadequate directions" is not intended to be offensive. Given your previous comment about checking the weather I will just assume that it is your style to make comments that are intended to be pithy but come across as borderline snarky.

My intent is to improve the accuracy of advice offered, SAB. Particularly when janisj and Stu are involved. So often is "their way or the highway."

If you are losing visitors you might want to give those suggestions a try. Rather than sending them down the 101.

It was even snarkier than you at first assumed . . .

I lived in Burlingame for 26 years and I too would never recommend Trousdale as a route to get between 101 and 280 -- slow and stop and go due to stop signs every other corner.

I never lived in Burlingame --- but commuted there 3 or 4 times a month for 15 years . . . ditto.

I visit my brother who lives off of Trousdale and Skyline several times yearly, and it has never been an issue.

So you two "experts" recommend slogging down 101 instead of getting over to the 280?

I suugested Trousdale as a backup for those too directionally challenged to use 380.

Once again these two love to create fiction in a sad attemot to "win".

Also wondering in the case of the OP, how much traffic there is on Trousdale at 5 am?

Trousdale does not connect to 101. They would need to take Millbrae Ave with all the long traffic lights, then a left onto El Camino Real for a few blocks, then right on Trousdale. There usually seems to be heavy traffic around the BART entrance on workdays between 8AM (probably earlier - I've never gone to BART before 8AM) and 6pm.

380 & 92 would be a much better way to get to 280 - which I much prefer over 101.
