It's been over a year since we dined at Butterfly but it looks like it's still getting decent reviews. We have ate there 2-3 times and it was pretty good.
We cocktailed it there once before an Alcatraz Tour with some other Fodorites a few years back.
Somewhat of an Asian influence.

Pier 33.
The re-opened Fog City is about 4 piers away towards the Ferry Bldg.
We ate there a few months ago and it was very good. Excellent service but not too much of an Asian place.

Stu! Your recommendations have been so helpful. I have read and printed out all that you have suggested. My husband and I will be in San Francisco for two nights and one day. We are staying at the Chelsea Inn. My plan for the full day is to walk up Lombard to catch a CC. Go see Union sq. and look around. CC back up to have lunch at North Beach, Pier 39, Coit Tower. Then head back to the Chelsea for a short break before taking the drive you suggest to GGNRA (#16).Is this a good plan for one day? Do you have any suggestions for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner? We don't care for bars or much nightlife and prefer to be outside if weather permits (maybe a nice glass of red wine for me) Any particular details about this planned route would be so appreciated.

Your plan would work.
There are scads of places for breakfast on Chestnut St & Union St close to your hotel - although we are not breakfast people. If you are around the Chelsea Inn for lunch - I go to Roses Cafe on Union & Steiner - very nice outside dining. They serve breakfast also. For dinner, try Isa on Steiner just north of Chestnut. Even if the weather is not nice, Isa has an "outdoorsy" dining area in the back of the restaurant. We had New Year's Eve Dinner there.
