San Francisco north to Portland
Been there during summer months but just wondering what it is like from November to March. I am presuming rain and fog but am looking for interesting places to go during the winter months. [Interesting=not too many tourists like me.]. Thoughts re the California-Oregon coast or other winter desinations would be welcome. No ski resorts pls. I am sure they are wonderful but just don;t work for me.

It should tell you something that one of the favorite winter activities on the Oregon coast is storm-watching. And I think the best place to do that is Overleaf Lodge in Yachats. If you time your visit right, you might even see a whale or two: http://www.whalespoken.org/.

Or you could check out the Channel House Inn in Depoe Bay where you could watch ocean activities from a hot tub on the deck
But really, it will be a lot of rain during during those months- we locals, head over to the mountains to get a little sun during those months - you dont really have to go to a ski resort though - other options if you are interested-
