San Francisco Jazz

We are heading to San Francisco at the end of September. Does anyone know if there is a good jazz club, similar to Jazz Alley in Seattle? I haven't been able to find too many postings on the topic.
Thanks.

HS - you must have been reading my mind! I was going to ask the same question as we are headed to SF in March and we love jazz and Dimitrou's too!

Many of us Bay Area jazz lovers make the journey across the Bay Bridge to Oakland for jazz at Yoshi's. It's a great room with no bad seats and great acoustics. They are opening one in the city later this year.

Yoshi - San Francisco

Looking for a place to hear good music, is this it?

How's the food? Should we have dinner before the show or just order from the club/ lounge menu.

Thanks,
Deb

For years Yoshi's in Oakland has been THE jazz spot in the SF Bay.
The restaurant is Japanese based and club prices and portions tend to prevail along with good quality. You might want to check the reviews on Yelp (both the newer downtown SF location as well as Oakland).

That said, the Oakland location near Jack London Square has a number of restaurant options within a 3-4 block radius. Check the following for some other dinner choices.

I have visited Yoshi's when visiting the city. Its much better than Pearl's in North Beach.
For my wife and I, our favorite is having dinner at Gary Danko followed by jazz at Yoshi's.

Just found out that Yoshi's Jazz Club has opened in San Francisco.
Its located at 1330 Filmore at Eddy on the ground floor of the Filmore Heritage Center. Yoshi's is on the ground floor on the front side of the building.
