We will be in San Francisco in early March. Looking for advice on Hotels.

You need to tell us your budget, and what sort of room you need (double, family, etc. ) and if you will be a car - parking is a huge consideration.

And where? Are you here for one night or five? Doing regular tourist stuff?

We are tow staying in Sonoma for three days( but the hotel is booked) and three days in San Francisco. We won't have a car so some place easy to get around. We want to spend about 180$-200$ Canadian a night.

At the current exchange rate that would be roughly between $140-$160 US

That is a low budget for San Francisco - where are you booked in Sonoma for that?

Plus most hotels don't include the taxes and fees in thier rates. These are very high in SF so you'd really need to look for rooms in the US$115-$125 range.

I actually checked three random dates in San Francisco, and on booking.com, it says 99% of hotels in that price range are booked up (no surprise there). So you should try that with your actual dates.

Be aware that as good as systems like Booking.com are those systems do not always have access to every room in a hotel's available inventory. Sometimes the hotel's website may show availability when of the booking engines is showing nothing available.

We were looking at the Intercontinental San Francisco Mascone center, Warwick Union Square or Mark Hopkins Nob Hill

Any one know if these are good choices

If you can get the Intercontinental or Mark Hopkins for $125 go for it! That would be the bargain of the century. The Mark Hopkins is not the most convenient location, being at the top of a pretty steep hill.

We just saw The Marker a Joie de Vivre Union Square Lower Nob Hill. Worth staying at? It is 203$ Canadian

The Intercontinental is a very nice big chain hotel, near the Union Square area. That’s what I’d choose among your choices, because I like to stay in the middle of things. I don’t know the Marker, but Lower Nob Hill is often a euphemism for Upper Tenderloin. I’ll check it’s location and get back to you.

Marker used to be the Monaco.

The Marker is at Geary & Taylor. I personally wouldn't choose that location

Intercontinental 185$ U.S, Union square... worth it you, you think? Or any one have a better option?

I liked that hotel when it was the Mo aco, Andy I think the location is fine. The Intercontinental is not on Union Square , it’s near Union Squake on Mission at Fifth. Personally between the two I’d probably pick the Marker but either would be fine.

I would pick someplace along the Embarcadero near the foot of Market. The farther away I get from Union Square, the more I enjoy San Francisco.

I agree with Mr. Dudley completely. While not perfect, we often stay at the Embarcadero Hyatt because:

it is convenient to BART and MUNI as in right outside the front door, basically

it is one block from the Ferry Building and the streetcar line you can use for Fisherman's Wharf if you so choose

I'd also stay along the Embarcadero of all city locations. I was only responding re the particular hotels mentioned.
