Would love a recommendation for a great Chinese restaurant and Seafood--but not the $100/person type--just great food. Will be there early April on a Friday, Sat. and Sun.

Thanks!!

Do you want one recommendation for a Chinese restaurant and another one for a Seafood restaurant? Or do you want just one recommendation for a Chinese Seafood restaurant?

Go to Swan Oyster Depot! My husband and I went there, because we'd seen it on Rachael Ray's $40 a Day travel show, and loved it. It is a tiny, no-frills seafood bar that probably seats a max of 20 people at a time. But the seafood is fresh and reasonably priced. Plus, the guys who work there are fun and attentive. We went at an off time to beat the crowds, but when lines began to form, the guys were serving people drinks while they waited.

My husband and I were in San Francisco in February. We ate at R&G Lounge located in Chinatown (http://rnglounge.com/) and would highly recommend them. We ordered their signature dishes of salt and pepper Dungeness crab, egg rolls (salmon with avocado) and special beef. The food was so delicious! We consider our meal there one of the best we had during our week trip to Napa and SF.

Hello kansas, not sure what you mean but if you are looking for a Seafood restaurant here is the website for the restaurants at Belden Place..just a block or so from Union Square. You can review the various restaurants and their menus and perhaps one of the restaurants will appeal to you.

Thanks for the names! I wanted ideas for a seafood place as well as a Chinese place. We will eat well in Napa, so I just wanted a mid-price ($50 or less/person).

Hunan Homes on Jackson St. between Grant and Kearny. Great fresh food, inexpensive. Try their sauteed snow pea leaves.

Swan Oyster Depot is great! Be aware that it's small and very popular AND it closes on the dot at 5:30pm.

The Belden Place restaurants are fun and are a good recommendation.

For Chinese, R&G Lounge is a terrific recommendation as well. It's on the corner of Kearney and Commercial in Chinatown. Their signature crab is is better and cheaper than Than Long, which is another Asian (Vietnamese) seafood restaurant.

If you are looking to do lunch in Chinatown, type in "dim sum" in the search box above. There have been several threads on this subject of late.

Avoid Yuet Lee. It has been variously recommended by some famous chefs and is a TERRIBLE place. Spend your dollars better somewhere else.

If there's no fog along the coast, I'd recommend the Cliff House, the Bistro side. Love their mussels. Great ocean view.

Great Eastern in San Francisco is wonderful! The food is standard Chinese food (with some fancier stuff also on the menu) and is delicious. The waiters are also very attentive. I can't wait to go back this summer!

We were in SF for 7 days recently and had a wonderful dinner at Tadich Grill. DH had wonderful "cioppino" and I had petrale sole that was excellent. He had a great bowl of clam chowder too.

We sat at the counter; we got seated in less than 10 minutes. They are on California, in the 200 block.

The Fodors SF book is really good for this--I highly recommend getting it for your trip.

Like Debi I love the petrale sole at the Tadich Grill. And sitting at the counter is always fun, more so than at the booths. The crusty waiters are amusing, so just enjoy their "attitude"..an old SF restaurant.

Eliza's for atypical -- and very SF-ish -- Chinese. Two locations: one on California, one in Potrero Hill. Both have really good food, great atmosphere. Fun, too.
