San Francisco Dining/Nightlife

We are staying at the Hotel Vintage Court (downtown) for 1 night...any suggestions for
restaurants--California, fusion, new american, meditarranean...not regular fare.
Also, any bars or clubs in area that may be of interest...enjoy wine, brew pubs, and various types of music.

Call and make a reservation before you go, but I'd suggest Rose Pistola-- sort of California/Italian and really wonderful. Another fun place was LuLu, whis is down SoMa (South of Market) and you need to take a cab there (they'll call one for you to go back). Big, fun, packed (again, reservations probably in order, but we got them for the same night we called). They have a huge open grill at the back. Wonderful menu, with quail, various grilled meats. Nice wine list. We had appetisers, main courses, dessert, and wine with dinner for under $100 for two.

You could stay at "home" and go to Masa's ; walk just down the street and go to Farallon ,my choice; or if money is no oject go to Aqua. Go to www.sfgate.com/eguide/food and see top 100 restaurants. Would advise you make reservations before you leave just in case. Enjoy.

If you want a "San Francisco" treat, try the "Roast Crab" w/garlic noodles at Crustacean on Polk/California. Excellent w/Gewurtztraminer or Sparkling wine! Aqua and has great food/wine in a modern setting. For a dinner/dancing-to-80s&alternative music all in one roof, try Mercury. Very modern: frosted glass, black leather booths; zebra chairs...nouveau!
Postrio, the Wolfgang Puck restaurant is my another good choice.
