San Francisco Bay Cruise

I would like to do a bay cruise on my trip to San Francisco in March. Will this be an alright time of year, weatherwise, for a bay cruise? Any opinions or preferences of the bay cruises offered there?

The Bay is rough, and March the weather is sketchy. SF is not all that warm really. Unless you have your heart set on it....I may consider something else. Or you can just play it by ear and see how the weather is.

Rather than a bay cruise, just take the ferry to Sausalito and back. Or if you rent bikes, like you mentioned somewhere else, ride there and ferry back. You'll get the same water views as you would on a bay cruise and kill two birds with one stone. Also, the ferry is more substantial and will withstand any water roughness better.

That sounds like a better idea. Plus, Suasalito is a wonderful place. We loved it.

Definitely play it by ear. The weather could be terrific or not so nice. We went sailing around Angel Island last year in February and it was pretty nice out - chilly, but nice.

I like the idea of taking a ferry - I would go out to Angel Island. The bay cruise that goes under the GG Bridge is pretty cool though - I believe that is the red and white fleet.

We took the bay cruise with Red and White fleet in March 2005. The cruise was enjoyable but the waters were very, very rough and it was cold and windy on the deck of the boat. We did enjoy it however but we were also dressed appropriately.

I'd rather go to Alcatraz, Sausalito, and maybe to Tiburon if you have time - all these by boat, instead of a cruise.

Sausalito and Tiburon as also accessible by Golden Gate transit buses.

Don,
Don't know if you've checked it out, but the CityPass includes a Bay cruise, as well as a 7 day Muni passport, and several museums. The cost is $42.00:
