San Francisco & Wine Country

We are planning a family trip in July or August. We will be traveling with 2 children and wondering if there are recommendations for lodging. We tend toward smaller establishments, like a B&B or inn experience. Are there possiblities with 2 children? Also, is one month better than the other?

Many B & B's require kids be at least 12 if they allow them @ all. Take a look here, this may be what you are looking for - www.selectregistry.com. There is also a fairly recent post on here re: kids going to wineries & such. That may also be helpful.

P.S. Is there a possibility of a small cottage for rent in the Napa/Sonoma area?

For something like that we use vrbo.com. Several posts on here re: them as well. I highly recommend them. You actually rent directly from the owners. We've used them on the coast in the Pt. Reyes & Jenner areas.
