San Francisco advice
My husband and I will be in San Francisco Dec.24th-28th . We will be booking well in advance for Alcatraz but would like to know what else we should see or do. Any restaurant recommendations would also be appreciated.

I second Perbacco and here is another suggestion for Union Square soclwrkr
http://www.scalasbistro.com/
Perbacco's website
http://www.perbaccosf.com/
If you two love mussels this restaurant is loved by many people
http://www.ploufsf.com/
My favorite in North Beach which has always been enjoyed by everyone I have been with including Fodorite's from Australia, Canada, S CA, Florida etc.

I am sure you will receive a lot of other recommendations too.
As far as activities if you post back about your interests it will help regarding recommendations.
Have fun planning your visit to beautiful San Francisco!

Thanks for the suggestions. Are interests are varied, sightseeing mostly. We will have a rental car and will be driving the coast on xmas day. ( any suggestions?) Other than that that we would like to see any historical sights, what to do at fishermans wharf, anything we should avoid. And we LOVE seafood so a great seafood restaurant recommendation.
thanks, Donna

I only wish Faina (but shhhhh don't tell thereyet, lol).
Hi Patrick, I can't remember if Perbacco had opened up yet when you last stayed in SF. I rather think not or we would have discussed it. Steffan, one of the two owners was the head chef at Scala's Bistro for years. I always loved his cooking!
Hi Donna, we highjacked your thread, but SF restaurants always gets a lot of us talking, lol.
I would type Stu Dudley's name in the search box as dmlove suggested, he has fantastic threads regarding information for visitors (and residents too) regarding SF. You could read all his good ideas that have very excellent details and decide what interest you two and then post back on this thread with whatever questions etc., you have. Keep in mind you could have rain when you are in SF so if you plan on a lot of outdoor activities and it is storming it would be good to have backup ideas.
Enjoy planing your visit!

Thanks for all your help. We'll definately head to Perbacco for a dinner or 2. I've booked a city tour for the 27th and I'm now thinking that it would be fun to drive to Redwood State Park. Any idea how long a drive?
Thanks, Donna
