SAN FRANCISCO - 6 flags

Greetings from Canada, Just returned and wanted to post my thoughts on the 6 flags park. How awful.. A 3 rate Disneyland and very overpriced. Some of our highlights:

1. All sit down restaurants we closed at dinner time so you had to pay high prices for crappy fast food.

2. The rides lines we generally slow. One ride took 2 mins to load once you got through the line and another 6 mins. for the attendant to walk through his drill to start the ride.

3. The park hours were until 10pm but many parts of the park closed long before. 8pm

4. The line up to get into the park was a joke - 45 mins.

5. If you paid extra you got to jump ahead of the line. Very tacky.

6. The garbage near the eating areas was terrible - in some cases nearly as high as the garbage cans.

7. Participants at the sea lion show (little kids) were soaked with the salt water and were not happy.

8. Too many close areas that made for bottleneck problems.

All in all I would never recommend going and further I wwould be very reluctant to go to any other.

My 2 cents worth.

You are talking about 6 Flags Marine World, right? I went there a couple years ago and was very disappointed. In years past it was a great park - back when it was Marine Wolrd Africa USA. The focus was on the animals and the shows. It seems that since 6 Flags took over, the park has gone downhill. The prices have gone up and the quality has gone down.

I agree with both posters. And I hope, Shultzy, you've contacted the park management and let them know how you feel.

Ummmm! Are we talking about 6 Flags in VALLEJO, California?

Or is there a 6 Flags in San Francisco?

Just curious!

We had a similar experience in July 2002. Every thing closed down early, rides and food alike. No sparkle to the place. Fortunately, we were using our annual Six Flags passes, and didn't cost us anything. Next morning, we took the ferry to SF and had a great time and the kids thoroughly enjoyed the city.

Yes, Six Flags Marine World is a bit of a nightmare. No landscaping to speak of--they put the new roller coasters right on their old parking lot and didn't even bother to remove the striping! It's very crowded with "punks". You can find the animal things (way off of the beaten track) and there are some nice kids' rides, so my daughter had fun, but we won't be rushing back!

Yeah - I couldn't believe they put the rollercoaster in the parkinglot and didn't even bother to cover up the stripes! How ghetto can a place be? At the very least they could have put a fresh coat of asphalt or covered it with wood chips - SOMETHING.

jason - although the difference between SF and Vallejo is huge to the locals, give a tourist from Canada a break

Valid points...I still like it.
They have some great coasters(although the new one isnt too smooth and it does look odd in the old parking lot. V2 and Medusa are two of my all time favorite rides. Advice for future 6 flaggers...
try to go before it gets crowded..we go once a year to paramount and 6 flags marine world. We usually go around May (after spring break and before school lets out) Fast pass should be free but why not buy it if you spent a whole day of your vacation to do it.(I agree it is tacky) This year we went on Mothers Day and it was so slow we walked on all the rides (even the popular ones) There was NO line for even the front of V2.
All in all I agree with most of the comments but they really arent trying to be Disney...they try to be fast and tall ...I think they do it well.
