San Fran to San Jose
I need to make a business trip to San Jose from Providence. I would like to use US Air because I can upgrade but this will only get me as far as San Francisco. What are my options for getting from San Francisco airport to San Jose. I think I would be very intimidated about driving since I am totally unfamiliar with this area....Thanks in advance!!

Try this site:
www.transitinfo.org/Airports/SJC_service.html
I tried to link it for you but it took too long to come up.If this doesn't work just search for San Jose Airport.

Hi Emily:
I live here, so I may be biased. It's an easy drive - straightforward, I mean. It should only take an hour unless you're driving from 7-9:30 am or 3-7 pm. The tip is to take highway 280, not 101 (it's been listed as one of the world's most beautiful highways).
Alternately, sighn up for an airport shuttle for about $30. It'll take you anywhere you need to go, but they drop other travelers on the way, so it's slow.
Best of luck. if the weather holds, you'll have great sunchine when you get here. - Kris

As you leave the SF airport, just outside are several shuttles that service the south bay area (San Jose). You simply go up to whoever is coordinating the shuttles and tell them where you want to go. I think the names are Blue and Gold Shuttle and South Bay shuttle, but just ask when you get outside. They generally pair you up with other travellers going in the same direction, so you may have to go through several stops. As the previous poster mentioned, it is a very easy drive, about 45 min to 1 hr depending on the part of San Jose you are travelling to and the time of day, traffic that you will encounter. The freeways are in very good shape. You will usually need a car in San Jose. Be sure to visit the Tech Museum downtown if you get a chance.

My family and I just got back from a trip to San Francisco where we had to drive from San Francisco to San Jose to fly home. We are from Oklahoma and felt intimidated by the drive too. We thought all of San Francisco was big hills like we see on t.v. but that was just in the main city part. The drive was a breeze. The roads were marked very well, the drivers courteous and it only took us about 45 mins. It wasn't during rush hour though. We did use Hi. 101.

Try the Caltrain SFO shuttle. You can catch it every 10-20 mins or so outside the North, Central and International terminals. It's free and connects to Caltrain -- commuter rail that goes to San Jose. Won't cost more than a few bucks, and you avoid traffic
