San Diego - Xmas Eve Dinner

Does anyone have a suggestion as to where we might go to have a nice dinner on Xmas Eve? In the Boston area not many restaurants are open except for the ones in the hotels. I would like a place that is very "Christmasy" - i.e., nicely decorated. I don't know if there is a 4 Seasons or Ritz in SD, but that's the type of place I'd like to go to for a special night/dinner. Xmas Eve only comes once a year, so we are going to splurge!!!

Thank you in advance.

Check out the Hotel Del Coronado. They probably serve the type of dinner you are looking for. Keep in mind that Christmas in Southern California may feel different than Christmas in the cold Northeast. There are no Ritz or 4 Seasons in San Diego.

I must correct Paul and say that there is the Four Seasons Aviara in Carlsbad, just north of the city of San Diego.

I would check first with Del Coronado or I imagine the Horton Grand in the Gaslamp District would be charming for Christmas Eve. It's a turn of the century hotel recently renovated and is about as old as it gets in San Diego. You could drive up to Laguna Nigel if you wanted a Ritz Carlton, but it would take a while.

I do stand corrected. Being that it's in Carlsbad, I never think of that hotel when thinking about San Diego recommendations but it is a Four Seasons. The Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel is about 1.5 hour drive from downtown San Diego but well worth the trip as it's a 5 Star Ritz Carlton. I have stayed there many times. But for San Diego proper, I still think the Hotel Del may be your best choice.

Go to El Bizcocho at the Inn at Rancho Bernardo. It's a way out from the city - north - but it's probably the best place in the area and it would be perfect for a holiday dinner.
