San Diego with a kid
Hey-
we are visiting San Diego in July with a 13 month old, We will be staying in Point Loma and are trying to figure out if a car is really needed. We live in Chicago and don't have a car so we are used to getting around on public transport...is is easy to get to and from downtown from point loma? and how are the taxis here?
thanks
becky

Hi Becky..
Rent a car..SD is NOT transit friendly and you'll be spending your time on a bus instead of enjoying your vacation..deals are to be had all over..plus you have a 13 month old..you can rent a car for less than $20 a day.
Try hotwire or expedia..
You'll spend that on a one way cab fare to downtown SD!

Yes, I second ksucat's advice. San Diego (unfortunately) is not public transport friendly, and because San Diego is pretty spread out you'll pay a fortune for taxi rides. It isn't practical to vacation here without a rental car.
