San Diego in the rain

I'm here in San Diego for the weekend, and the forecast is rain and more rain. Any suggestions on things to do? We have a car. Thanks everyone! On Monday it's back to chilly New York!

Forecast is improving for the weekend. If you don't mind walking around in the rain I guess you could do the zoo. I understand the Pandas love rain!

Sorry our weather isn't behaving well for you!

This type of weather is actually pretty good for visiting the
Zoo. The museums in Balboa Park are all indoors and some are very interesting.

I think we are still getting big surf, so you might see if you can get reservations at the Marine Room. They don't do lunch every day, but they are today. Probably booked up, but worth a phone call:

Where are you staying? If it's not the Hotel Del, it's a great place to visit. Go for a walk on the beach, then a nice warm drink at the Del.

SD in the rain or the Northeast at 30° (it was 15 last night). I would much rather be in SD during a heavy rainstorm. The last time I was there I went to the zoo in the rain, albeit a light rain, but every animal was active and it was great. There are also plenty of other museums to see.

Tonight (after 5:00 Friday) or all day/night tomorrow join the hundreds of thousands at Balboa Park's December Nights:

Don't drive. Nobody here knows how to drive in the rain. You'll get killed!

Gotta agree that people in SD in the rain cannot drive. they are worse than people in CT during a blizzard

It's not like they get any practice, you know. They also go crazy before the rain, because they don't want to be out in it.

Now I'll admit we don't get a lot of practice driving in the rain but being out in it is different.
I don't know anyone who doesn't love to go for a stroll in the rain. As long as it's not really cold, like today.

The zoo is great advice.

We did get lucky with the weather! It was overcast and chilly yesterday, but we spent a nice day exploring Coronado. We went to Balboa Park last night, and the December Nights activities were wonderful! Great suggestion. Thanks again.

Haha, I should have said that they don't want to be DRIVING in the rain. Yes we all go outside like turkeys and look up at the sky in amazement.

Glad the weather turned out better.

It often happens that the storms don't quite have the punch predicted by the time they round Pt. Concepcion. Any little bit of rain we get is a blessing at this point.

Head to Balboa Park...lots of indoors places to visit--although not, of course, the wonderful zoo.
