San diego condo
Hi,
I'm planning a trip to San Diego next summer with husband and two teenage sons. Ideally I would like to find a condo that is near a good beach and also a reasonable drive (under 30 min.) to attractions such as zoo, Sea World, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions of where to stay? Can pay up to $300 night or so, and would like someplace that is not overly congested or noisy.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Annie

30 minutes or less to Sea World/Zoo and not congested cannot be done in the summer. Consider staying near La Jolla Shores for relatively peace and quiet compared to Pacific/Mission Beach areas. The Sea Lodge is right on one of the best beaches in the area. They are not condos thought but some rooms have kitchenettes.

There are about 5 condo rental companies in the SD area. I just finished looking for an oceanfront condo there in April as we have 3 children and needed more room. I ended up renting from San Diego Vacation Rentals 1-800-222-8281 They had nice condos at slightly better prices. I can't remember the names of the other rental companies, but searching the web, you should be able to find them.

personally, i wouldn't recommend coronado. while you may enjoy it, it's rather fancy & dull for teenage sons. south mission beach is nice but may be too noisy/busy for you. but, the boys would love it cause they'd be right on the boardwalk and you can rollerblade for several miles. there is lots of action, fast food places, etc. that teenagers like. if you want quieter, you can go across the street and rent on the bay side (don't swim in the water). the one downside of south mission is that it is a deadend street so traffic can be a bitch but it moves, just need patience. can easily get to sea world/zoo/corondo/etc within 30 minutes.
if you chose to go with a hotel i'd check out the catamaran in pacific beach. a block to the beach and great pool area.
