San Diego anniversary dinner

Need a lovely San Diego restaurant for an anniversary dinner. Money is (almost!) no object, but it must be open on Monday nights. Thanks (and Mona thanks, too) Dick

I organized all of the printouts I have made of good tips here in Fodor's yesterday and there was a printout on San Diego Restaurants. The question was posted on Oct 24 1997. A Richard Hardy answered! Any relation?? Here are the recommendations:Anthony's Star of the Sea on the water and if you like wine, Wineseller and Braserie.
Chart House on the water, The Marine Rom and George's in La Jolla (pricey) Tom Hom's Light House is across from airport behind the Sheraton and overlooks the water. another said if you want an amazing view of all of San Diego up and down the coast go to Mr. T's on top of a "downtown building". Great steak and seafood and not too expensive. If you like Italian there was a vote for Asti's. Superb food, great service and terrific wine list. Its in the Gaslamp area. Have fun!

Some of the restaurants mentioned in the prior message are not really what you would want for your anniversary dinner. Contact me direct with a an indication of the type of food you want, where you are staying and if you will have a car. I will send the best info I have either based or personal experience or the latest 1998 Zagat Survey. I live in San Diego.

Ok, so I looked up some of the previously recommended restaurants and found somer errors and ratings: Tom Ham's Lighthouse is only one star; Chart House is 2 star: Mr. T's is really Mister A's, is a 4 star restaurant on top of the Fifth Avenue Financial Center (traditional, continental); Spencer's inside Sheration Harbor Island Hotel is 3 star. The only other 4 star's are: ANTHONY'S STAR OF THE SEA ROOM on the Embarcadero. Reservations needed and its formal attire. Dinner around $30.My daughter went to dinner at the Dockside at the Mission Bay REsort and it is a 3 star.

Oh I forgot about George's in La Jolla. My AAA book doesn't show it. Maybe it's new? They do recommend Top of the Cove Restaurant, 3 stars, semi formal attire, they says its charming and has some tables w/ocean view. Continental cuisine.
