sacred places

There was an article in my local paper this morning about the most sacred places. The author chose, for himself, Notre Dame in Paris, Uluru, and a garden in Kyoto. I personally would vote for Ste Chappelle in Paris.

any other nominees?

I have no idea what "local paper" you read, but you can think of the world's main religions:

- for Christians, it should be the spot where Jesus was crucified. The actual spot is debateable, but many say it's at where the Church of Holy Sepulchre stands today in Jerusalem.

- for Muslims, they have several major shrines, but the most important one is Kaaba Shrine in Mecca.

- for Buddhists, it's where Buddha gets his enlightenment. It's at Bodh Gaya in northern India.

The Ferry Building at the foot of Market Street in San Francisco. "San" means "sacred", you know.
