S.F. Castro Halloween - Did anyone go last night?

I was there briefly in the early evening, it looked like a fun but crowded time was shaping up for the street party. On Saturday night, I was walking up Market near Castro Street and happened upon a bevy of drag queens all dressed in skirted suits with ties, with high heels and high hair that made them seem 10 feet tall. They were carrying signs saying "That's MISTER Girlie Man to you honey!" and the like. It made my weekend. That and the dogs in costume. You have to love a town where Halloween is like a high holy day...

Oh Dovima, thank you! I had to work last evening. In this dusty world, it's good to know the true spirit of the Castro lives on.

Not only the fag-hags, but the great "group" costumes were a hit with the photographers :
Oompa-Loompas from Willie Wonka film;
ALL of the superheroes in high-quality costumes;
Ten quite gay firemen;
Six Ghostbusters was so, like, 20 years ago;
Geisha girls in excellent quality costumes;
ALL the Batman characters in h.q.

Individually, there were some great stand-outs, also :
A man in a shower, with the shower curtain on a metal loop frame.
Hunter S. Thompson.
Oscar the Grouch.
A man being eaten by a shark.
A functional lamp.
Four men dressed convincingly as See's Candies ladies.
Carmen Miranda.
Cruella deVille.
And there was one thin black shemale in particular for which a circle opened in a jam-packed, shoulder-to-shoulder street full of partiers. Best legs ever on a man (?)

Great time. I'll get around to posting photos in a public place and will re-post here...

I saw the group of "geishas" inside the Walgreens on Castro & 18th on Saturday night (now THAT was one very busy cosmetics department!). They tiptoed in unison, wearing those little clogs with the bells in them. It was hilarious.

A gay friend of mine said "since all you straight people moved in on our party, it hasn't been the same. We celebrate the night before, when you're not there." May be true.
