RV through the south
I posted another topic about our trip asking for ideas for things to do but this one is for advice on where to park the rv. We leave in a little over a week and haven't booked a thing besides our rv and flight to Orlando. We will be driving through Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia and South Carolina. Anyone have experience doing this? Do we need to make reservations at camp spots or are things pretty open in Oct. I have also heard that if all else fails you can sleep over night in a Walmart parking lot. Also does anyone have a recommendation for their favorite place to camp/ park their Rv.

Favorite place to park an RV? Campground located in the park/location I am visiting. Where are you going? Listing 6 whole states doesn't narrow things down much.
To get more specific recommendations it would help to post your itinerary and ask for RV parks in particular locations.

i suggested on the other thread that you buy an RV/camping atlas OR search them out on the web. And yes, in October many places will be very popular for camping for leaf color or beach.
J62 has it right. Where are you going?
And apparently you still plan to use it for sightseeing IN the middle of the cities you plan to visit. That will be a little daunting some places.
Not sure why you think a new thread will change our advice.

Gretchen, well I'm not sure why you are on here or bothering to post on my forum if you are going to be rude. I posted a new one to just get info on Rv spots and the reason for doing this is because we are in the process of planning out the exact spots we want to stay. So if anyone tells us of an amazing place then we will plan our trip to go there. Also yes we have zero intentions of lugging a car around with us. We can take public transportation or taxied to where ever we want to go.

But Robin, you are still asking the same question. You need to pick the amazing places--Charleston, NOLA, Asheville I believe have been suggested. Sorry if you find reality rude.
I also thought my advice that October can be a well travelled month for leaf color in the mountains was helpful. I personally would think that having reservations for parking at night would be reassuring.
So, I think St. Augustine was suggested--maybe for a day and overnight.
Savannah would be a nice day and overnight.
Charleston would be a must and for several days.
head up I26 to Asheville area for several days--things to do in the town and the surrounding mountain areas.
So now you have maybe 8 or 9 days used.
Head to Nola directly for 3-4 days and back to Orlando directly.
But do some picking of where YOU want to go. I think there is an RV forum here or on other sites that may have more traffic from people who actually do RVing. Of the several posters (you and others) who have discussed RVing, the advice here was to drive and do a motel for the night.
