Staying at the Roosevelt Hotel next month with my famly. Just about to drop them a note checking on preference for an adjoining or adjacent room for my girls. I wondered if anyone had any other advice - eg. Rooms on a higher floor, back front, etc?

Hi Anne, we stayed at the roosevelt a few times and its a wonderful, central location. They were renovating rooms when we were there last and i'm not sure if they're completed (do they ever complete nyc hotel renovations?) so i would ask for new rooms, just in case.

On garbage pick up days there some of the rooms are very noisy early in the morning. I can't remember which street those rooms face, but it would not hurt to ask.

You are not likely to notice "garbage pickup". Except stepping aside on the sidewalks late at night...if you happen to be walking along that particular night before.

Though nearly all hotels these days declare your requests will be "honored if possible at check-in", a phone call to the hotel manager or front desk clerk politely explaining that you are a family should work just fine. Particularly since this one (to my knowledge) is not the victim of a "chain" or "central reservations".
