Hubby and I stayed at the Riv over Labor Day Weekend last year in an astoundlingly cheap package air/hotel deal from America West and found the Riv to be just fine! We got a clean, large room where all we did was sleep and clean up for the evening's entertainment. The pool looked nice and we had 2-for-1 coupons for the breakfast buffet (total of $9.95 for two) and it was great. I did not like the casino at all, although I won $50 after a 50 cent investment in a slot machine - immediately cashed out and played craps across the street at Slots-O-Fun, my favorite low budget casino in town! You're also right across the street from two great restaurants - The Peppermill and The Steakhouse at Circus Circus.
If you go to Vegas to enjoy a resort hotel, then the Riv is definitely not for you. If you just need a bed in a clean room, then go for it!
