Rocky Horror on B'way

Has anyone seen the Rocky Horror Show? Are there tickets available at the TKTS booth or will I need to book in advance?

Also , any discount tix for Blue Man Group?

Thanks for your help!

We got tix at TKTS a month ago and were surprised to find the theatre about 1/3 empty at showtime. It's a fantastic set and great costumes/effects. The lead playing Dr. Franknfurter is fantastic and Joan Jett was also very good in her role. I sdaw the guyb who plays Brad when he was in Miss Saigon and thought the Brad role doesn't allow his talent to really show through. Likewise with one of the female cast members who I saw in Rent - again her talent really wasn't put to best use but I think it's a limitation of the material, not the fault of direction. My daughter and I were both less than enthused by the production's Janet. Dick Cavett was wonderful as the narrator and really a treat and great to see him in person. In all, I'd suggest it for any RHPS fans but if you enjoy theatre and want to see a show that rocks more than most Broadway I'd suggest Rent. It's showing up now on TKTS at a 25% discount. We got loge seats for a Friday show at $60 each including surcharge and it was well worth it. Second time I've seen it and it has held up well over the years.

Yes, tickets are available at the TKTS booth. Also, check out the Playbill website, join its club (it's free and not a gimmick) and then look up the deal for RHPS. It may not be as big a discount as TKTS, but you won't have to wait in line. You print a copy of the offer and take it to the box office.

I looked on Playbill and they don't have Rocky Horror or Blue Man listed. Maybe they will closer to my vacation dates (June).

Yes, we are RHPS fans, plus we have seen Rent in both NY and SF, so as long as I don't hear any big negatives on the show that is probably what we will try to see. I do think we will wait and try to use the TKTS booth (unless it shows up on Playbill).

Thanks!

If you're a RHPS fan then by all means go - you're sure to enjoy it. I only wished that the theatre was full because a larger the number of true fans (those who know the dialogue well enough to answer back or anticipate phrases) enhance the interactive nature of the experience. The set design and the treatment that they've given to the entire inside of the theatre (including the lobby, other public areas and the theatre walls) must be seen to be appreciated. The production designer (whose name escapes me) was responsible for the interior design schemes of Nobu and some other well known, aesthetically stunning restaurants in NYC. This was his first Broadway design and I hope he does more - it's truly spectacular and adds greatly to the enjoyment of the show.

It's a good idea to keep checking Playbill. Any new additions are posted on Fridays. If it's not available there before you get to NY, chances are good that it'll be available at TKTS, especially for midweek performances. It is not close to selling out.
