Oh, sorry, you said poodles. They don't smoke, and they prefer Sartre to Proust, but otherwise, same advice applies. They can be a bit rude, but if you speak French to them, their attitude improves markedly.

I am off to San Antonio in a couple of days, I will keep eyes open for the pesky critters!!
Also, don't go to Marbella, Spain. Where the fisherman come in, there must be several hundred cats. They are lounging in the sun, grooming themseves, the purring is very audible. - Just waiting for some scraps of fish. I thought it was a riot, but really they should do soemthing.

While it is true that there are feral cats in San Antonio (LOTS of them), they tend to frequent alleys and hang around dumpsters, mainly at night. This isn't unique to S.A., though, feral cats are a problem in most cities and many rural areas. If you have any more questions about them, feel free to reply to me at chris AT sanantonioferalcats.org, or visit our web site at http://www.sanantonioferalcats.org.

I have never met a feral Poodle but the one I know personally, is quite aloof when someone speaks to him in a loud voice and calls him pet names.
He prefers to be called Monsieur Pup.
He occasionally can be found having discussions in the park with a terrier who gets very excited if the topic concerns chateaubriand in Paris.
I would be more concerned about a feral cat, they have no manners.

the best cat I had was an adopted feral. Big, black and fearless but so totally devoted once her guatd was down and felt secure.
Scarlett, I've never seen a feral poodle, I thought, until I adopted this miniture one, oh -la-la-

Ha! Binthair, tell me about it !
In my old neighborhood in LA , there was a lady who would put out food for the cats in the neighborhood. I was so touched when I saw that she had put in a small water feature in her back yard, a tiny fountain with a little pond. She told me that the cats could have fresh water that way..

Those of you who protest the numerous cats parading along the shores of the Mediterranean, like Greece and Spain, should cool off a bit. After all, these cats still have their bikinis on! Well, most of them do...

The cats we saw on various Greek islands always looked pretty well fed, between the fishermen's leavings and the taverna scraps from soft-hearted tourists. But feral cats don't get any medical care or neutering, so programs like those mentioned in this thread are still very much needed.

E: a question - how does one tip those cats without a bikini?
Since there's no bra or - um - anything else where one can park the bills, is there a pouch hanging from their sunglasses? Or do they carry purses just for this purpose?
Just a travel related question. I'm always afraid to do the wrong thing when on the road.
