I use to be, but not anymore. I also use to bring half the grocery store with me. Not now, take nothing. As we stop for gas and 99% of gas stations now have a convienent store also and can get any snacks we want and drinks also. Use to bring bags and ended up either throwing or ended back home with it all. Clothes etc I have that down now perfect.

I even use different "luggage" for car trips. Just a bunch of huge plastic woven carry-all baskets from Mexico, canvas totes, laundry baskets, etc.

Unfortunately I veer back and forth between over and under packing all in the same trip. Son has diabetes so I always remember to pack insulin, needles, fast acting sugars, etc. Then I will forget to pack clothes for him and his brother. I once packed five pairs of shorts but only 2
t-shirts for a camping trip. Sometimes grocery stores are few and far between on our camping trips (my husband and another husband nearly came to blows over the last piece of beef at a one store town near Lake Umbagog) but I will then pack four jars of peanut butter but a half loaf of bread. In my real life I'm fairly well organized. In my vacation life I'm doomed to wear bikini bottoms when I run out of underwear.

Lawsy but I am the worst on road trips!

Cooler, beach chairs, food, drinks, fishing gear, tackle boxes, towels, mini bags of tolietries, books, magazines, cds, bag of condiments inside cooler.

And, it add to the mix on the road. Anywhere we stop I am grabbing real estate mags, Roomsaver hotel coupon books, more snacks, drinks, etc.

Our travel cooler is one of those huge white fishing coolers that go on a boat, I think it is four feet long.

Yikes! I'm nesting in the car!

My "short trips"* packing rule was that if it doesn't fit into the overhead baggage, it doesn't come with me.

Then I got married...

* short trip = less then 8 days
