Road trip from Washington DC - Savannah
We're planning to drive from Washington DC to Savannah in mid-Sept.
Does anyone know a route that they’d recommend or places to visit on the way?
Interested in getting there over the course of 3 days and keen to see as much of the States between as possible
Please reply with your suggestions thanks

There are lots of things to see on the way, but it's hard to recommend what you might like without knowing more about your interests.
In your other thread you mentioned the BRP. Is this the same trip? IMO, the best barbeque is in Eastern NC.
You might want to consider tagging your post Virgina and NC too, since those are the states you will drive through.

If the OP wants real BBQ, it's best to wait until you get to NC. If you leave DC in the am, barring bad traffic, you can be in NC by lunchtime.
I worked in Fayetteville for 6 months and wouldn't recommend Fuller's. It's not bad, but for the real eastern NC BBQ experience, pick a place listed on the trail. Wilbur's in Goldsboro comes highly recommended but I haven't been is 3 years.
I avoid Maurice's on principle. It's full of racist memorabilia. If you stop in Santee just go to Clark's.
McCabes is only open evenings Th-Sat.
You have to call ahead and reserve at Harold's.
