Day 1 from San Antonio to New Orleans- about 8 hours.
Lots of nightlife in the French Quarter. Stop in at Cafe du Monde for begniets and coffee. Next stop would be one of many nice beaches in the panhandle of Florida OR Stop in Biloxi.
The casinos in Biloxi have been rebuilt since Katrina.
Once you get south of Ocala Florida choose whether you want to go through Orlando or over through Tampa/St. Pete.
Decide whether you want to see Miami before or after Key West.

I'm from Corpus Christi and have had many "adventures" to / in Key West. Following are some suggestions of things to do along the way and the "Key West Bucket List" from Capt. Tony's Saloon in Key West:

Enroute

1. Get off I-10 at Pensacola and take Hwy 98 along the coast until it meets up with U.S. 19 in Perry, Florida. Destin / Ft. Walton has some of the best beaches in the world.

2. Take U.S. 19 south to Homosassa Springs State Park in Homosassa Springs

3. Follow 19 down the coast to Holiday then get on Alt. 19

4. Take Alt. 19 to Clearwater then head for the beach (Gulf Blvd.)

5. Take Gulf Blvd. (etc.) to Ft. Desoto State Park (one of the best beaches in the world)

6. Check out Sarasota and Ft. Myers Beach enroute to the Keys on I-75 / Turnpike

7. Personally, I would spend the vast majority of my time in Florida from Homestead south.

8. Check out all of the cities and state parks south of Homestead, and use the bucket list for some suggestions.

9. Have an awesome Adventure!

------------------------------------------------------------
1. Drink a Pirate Punch or a beer (or 2 or 3) at Capt. Tony’s!
2. Boat ride to Dry Tortugas National Park-Fort Jefferson
3. Sunset cruise is a MUST!
4. Hit the Last Chance Saloon in Homestead on the way down
5. Stop at The Whistle Stop, Islamorada- home of "Tiki" John, RIP- inventor of The Rum Runner drink. More darts, couple RR's and some good eats off the menu...
6. Get some pizza at the No Name Pub-best pizza in the world- about MM31. "A great place if you can find it" was their slogan. Ask some locals if you don't have a GPS- they'll tell you. Looks like a shack, but is one of the coolest places you'll find in the keys.
7. Ride the Conch Train!
8. Sit at Schooner Wharf all afternoon and listen to Michael McCloud
9. Hit the beach and Snorkel at Zachary Taylor.
10. Have your picture taken at the Southernmost Point!
11. Hang your bra in Captain Tony's!!!!
12. Enjoy a sunset at Mallory Square
13. Stumble over to Louie’s Backyard
14. Have a beer at Sloppy Joes (the owners of Capt. Tony’s might not agree with us on that one :^)
15. Watch the late night shenanigans at Rick’s
16. Breakfast at Blue Heaven!
17. Breakfast at Pepe's!
18. Take a snorkeling trip with Sunny Days Catamarans! It's a 3 hour trip... an hour out to the spot, an hour snorkeling and an hour back with free beer! LOVE IT!
19. A visit to the Cuban Coffee Queen
20. Gotta stop and have a drink at Garden of Eden. Strange place but it’s like no other! ‘
21. Go see Pete & Wayne
22. Have a fish sandwich at Bo's Fishwagon for lunch
23. Stop at Finnegan's Wake for happy hour
24. Go to a 5 o'clock sound check show at the Green Parrot
25. Have some Conch Fritters and Key Lime Iced Tea at Mike’s on Mallory Square
26. Have a drink at the Smallest Bar in Key West
27. Hang out at Irish Kevin's listening to Jared Michael Hobgood
28. Rent a moped
29. Have a cheeseburger at Margaritaville
30. Visit the cemetery
31. Take a tour of the Key West lighthouse
32. Take a tour of the Hemmingway House
33. Do “the Duval Crawl”
34. Watch a drag queen show
35. Play drag queen bingo
36. Drink a few Key Lime Coladas at the Sunset Deck Bar at The Westin!
