Road trip from Fl to TX

My husband and I want to take a fun road trip with our two boys ages 10 and 5. We live in the Florida Panhandle and want to go to Texas. We would like to go to San Antonio, Houston and probably Dallas. We want to make a baseball game while in Texas and need things to do with kids. We will probably stop in New Orleans along the way for a couple of nights but need somewhere to stop on the way home from Dallas. does anyone have any suggestions for our trip?

You might consider a couple of spots: Natchitoches on the Cane River, where you might enjoy canoeing. The town is also interesting and historic.

If you want a flavor of Cajun country, take La highway 13 about 10 miles south of Alexandria and head for Eunice and Crowley. Lots of interesting places along the way, and you could stop in either town for an overnight.

If you decide to return on a trip that takes a more southerly route along I-10, consider an overnight stop in Lake Charles, Jennings, Lafayette, or Baton Rouge. All of these are interesting.

We are taking a road trip from Los Angeles to the Florida Keys (and back) and I have been wondering about those same areas.

Wayne,
Could please share more about Lake Charles, Jennings, Lafayette, and Baton Rouge? I can not seem to find out much about them. I would love to learn what makes the towns special, things to do and see, nice little places to stay and where to eat.

I grew up in Lake Charles and can tell you anything you want to know about that town. Same for Lafayette, Natchitoches, or Baton Rouge. Ask away...

stanler1,

IMHO, the Rangers Ballpark is a prettier, more classic stadium but the Astros are the better team. Both are excellent experiences.
