Road Trip Boston to JAX
Hello all. My husband and I, together with our 9-month old golden retriever, are driving from Boston to JAX area (Amelia Island) in August. Our goal is to do the trip in two days with the first day being the longest drive. Any helpful hints would be appreciated. My main concern is eating on the road with the dog in tow -- due to the heat, impossible to leave him in the car while we grab a bite. Other than drive-thru not sure this is doable. We have an EZ Pass and some general ideas of where we might stay along the way but would love to hear from others who may have done a similar trip.

The last time we went from CT to JAX, we went out i 84and picked up i 81 and drove south to i 77 south to i 26 east to i 95 in south Georgia. It was a much nicer trip than fighting through the cities along i 95. It was a little farther but took the same time or less than just doing i 95. If you look for pet friendly lodging in the Roanoke, VA area and pack picnic foods, stop at the state rest areas which have designated dog walking areas, you should be just fine.

I agree w/em. In addition, the part of I-95 where you are most likely to want to stop, is somewhat lacking in good places to stay (thinking NC here). That IS lots a driving, makes me appreciate my 6 hr. jaunt from CLT even more. Lots of good AI posts on here if you need info.
