Road Trip

If I was going on a rotational road trip(no major stops really..just some people sleeping and the others driving, then we rotate)
and needed showers where would we go?
We dont necessarily want to get hotels...as thats a little unnecessary.
Any ideas beside the truck stop thing?

If you are a member at a national gym chain (like Bally's or Gold's), you could check to see about using gym facilities on the road (you might have to pay a small fee).

Here is an idea for you:

You go to a LARGE chain-type motel and park in the back somewhere. Go alone to the front desk and say you want a room for the night but, as is the norm, you want to look at it first.

The clerk gives you the key to a room, you go and open the door, let everyone else inside and then you immediately go back to the front desk, give back the key and say "no thank you."

You sneak back to the room where your "accomplices" have already started showering and everyone showers up quick and gets the heck out of Dodge!

I have witnessed this happen when a bunch of college kids actually spent the night in the room.

works great for people on a budget
: ) ha ha

There are some campgrounds that will let you pay for showers.

National Prks often have showers in a centralized area, not necessarily in the campgrounds themselves. But the parks tend to be off major highways and you would have to pay the entrance fee to the park.

Sides of rivers or streams with a towel! Works great and way more refreshing than a lame shower stall in some greasy truck stop. The outdoors is wonderful to clean up in, and just bring soap that's safe for the environment.

Cheers,

It's my experience that very few National Parks in the west have showers, but there are a few that do. If you list the ones you are going to, I can tell you is they have showers.
