Riding Stables

Does anyone know of any horseback riding stables in the Las Vegas area and how I could get in contact with them? My daughter would like to go riding in the mountains when we are out there next month. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Las Vegas isn't really a destination that you go to for their mountains (do they even have mountains?). I'd call the Tourism Board or your hotel and see if they can help you out.

I dont' understand the above post, there is very nice mountain countryside and a national forest nearby to the NW, good for a scenic drive. My sister is horseback-riding batty so we tried to do that when in Vegas together and could not find a very good stable; we found one not too far from town but it was simply riding on flat, dirty ground in the hot sun and was not much fun. I think your best bet is Sagebrush Ranch (702-645-9422) which has trail rides in the Spring Mtn range or Cowboy Trail Rides (702-387-2457) which has rides in Red Rock Canyon which has pickup on the Strip. I don't think either of these is really in the more mountainous areas (such as Toiyabe Natl Forest), but more in the flatter desert geography.

It can get awfully hot in the desert (even the hilly areas). please, exercise caution, not only for you and your daughter BUT for the horses. Some stables are not as diligent as they should be for the care of their horses.

Thank you Kirk!!! I've spent my whole life with horses and I always get kind of worried when I see someone looking to "trail" ride. Heat is excessively stressfull to horses. Most horse owners in the southwest (or any where for that matter) would NOT ride for any length of time if the temp is near or over 90. If you're sure you want to do this in July, please try and go very early in the day.
