Long time no talk!

I'm thinking of treating myself to a nice hotel stay in Atlanta. Looking for recommendation on the best, most luxurious hotel bed in town.

Price unimportant. Located within 20-30 miles (will drive for feather beds!).

Had a great bed at Twelve at Atlantic Station. The rooms are huge, too. Basically a one-bedroom quasi-loft style apartment.

I would do the Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton Buckhead. I've never been disappointed with the Heavenly Beds - check out the Starwood group properties. You can also try Priceline for a 4star hotel for less than a $100 on the weekends.

The Sheraton Midtown has great Heavenly beds but its closing to change into a W hotel.

If you want a nice alternative to Atlanta, the Ritz on Lake Oconee at Reynolds Plantation is wonderful too.

I've stayed at the Ritz downtown. I didn't think the bed was all that great. And the room was tired, the phone didn't work, and the HVAC made a horrible rattling noise. The hotel feels like a run down Marriott.

Listen to hills. I've not stayed there. I have stayed at the Buckhead and Oconee locations. I've not stayed at the 4S Atlanta either, but love the Palm Beach location.

You can't go wrong with a Heavenly bed IMHO.

The Westin Peachtree is very tired. If you want the heavenly bed, the Westin in Buckhead is better. Can you tell I've stayed in half the hotels in Atlanta?

The 4S in Midtown is pretty tired, too. Not worth the money, in my opinion. But I think they are renovating shortly.

In general, Atlanta's room supply is very tired. It needs updating desperately. It's going to be very hard for these hotels to compete when the St. Regis opens in Buckhead and the brand new downtown W opens (not the midtown Sheraton conversion, but the new one downtown).

I agree that the Westin Peachtree is tired, but the bed is great which is the point. Admittedly, it is the same bed as the one in Buckhead, but at least you aren't stuck in Buckhead. While downtown is dull, at least it's near interesting things. Buckhead is like anyplace-USA.

You cannot go wrong with the Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead, excellent beds and classy. We stay there often.

True, Buckhead is dull. Personally, I prefer midtown.

Ritz Carlton Buckhead is in horrible condition... and there were tons of hookers in the bar. Seriously.

My favorite ATL hotel is The Glenn, which is near the Omni.

Hate to break it to you, but there are always tons of hookers in high end hotels. Particularly those that cater to businessmen.

Maybe so, but these gals were very obvious hitting on every guy in the place... even when said men were with a group of women.
They were like street hookers and skanky which is not generally tolerated in a high end establishment.
'Classy' and discreet hookers are more common in truly high end places. The employees know who they are but they operate under the radar of guests that might be offended.
The Ritz Buckhead is way past it's prime and definitely NOT a high end hotel. It needs to become a Doubletree or Hilton.
