Ridenhour Ranch House Inn

Has anyone stayed here? Thoughts on accomodations and location would be appreciated. Any other suggestions for a 2 night stay in the Sonoma Valley for around $150 a night?

My husband and I stayed there for 5 days during our honeymoon last August and WE LOVED IT! The innkeepers Chris and Meilani are some of the nicest people we have ever met! The rooms are very cozy and nice, the breakfasts are to die for. A sample on a "day when there is only a few guests" as Meilani would put it is a huge made to order omelette, Louisian bread pudding, sweet, fresh fruit sundaes with pudding, and homefries. You can imagine what you get when the inn is full. Meilani makes these pecan and chocolate chip cookies every afternoon that are delicious! The inn is near the ocean if you want to drive to Jenner and it is near countless numbers of wineries. I cannot say anything bad about our stay there. It is right next to the Korbel Champagne Cellars--definitely go there for a tour and tasting. The area around the inn is great--West Road is windy and looks like Tuscany and has tons of wineries. The inn is about a 15 minute drive from Healdsburg, which is an area with more wineries and restaurants. Believe me, staying at this inn made our honeymoon so special. I am sorry this post is so long, but I was so excited that someone had finally asked advice about a place that I had been to! Good luck!

Sounds wonderful! Do you know how far a drive it is from San Francisco? Which wineries and restaurants do you recommend? Thanks for your help

You are one and 1/2 hrs north of sfo. However, take it very leisurely and make stops along the way. the drive is part of the adventure. Turn out just across the golden gate bridge and look back out at the city. Stop in the town square of Sonoma. Get out of your car and walk the full perimeter and pick up cheese at the Sonoma Cheese Factory. Great picnic stop. In Healdsburg there is a movie house on the square and next to it is Ravenous Rest. YUM.!! Make your own discoveries. This area is so marvelous and mistake-proof. Make sure you make time to kick back and do nothing but soak in the ambience.

Joan,
We went to Korbel, Belvedere, Farrari-Carrano (this place has a beautiful garden!), Porter Creek, Rabbit Ridge, Mill Creek, Davis Bynum, and Hop Kiln, just to name a few! A lot of the wineries in the area are smaller, so you may not have heard of some, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't go! The people at the wineries were so friendly! We ate at a restaurant called Cape Fear that was great (they can tell you how to get there at Ridenhour--it is toward the town of Jenner). We also had a FABULOUS dinner at Madrona Manor--it is very expensive, but the atmosphere and ground are beautiful! The restaurant is an inn as well--an old victorian mansion that was such a nice place to have dinner. Did I mention how great the wine was? There is a pub-type restaraunt in Healdsburg that is great for lunch--sorry, I forget the name. They had these parmesan and garlic french fries that were outrageous (can you tell I like to eat and drink wine?) I am so jealous you are going--I cannot wait to return!
