Returning to NYC--The Plaza?

We loved the city in March, so when a last minute opportunity came up--we are coming back for a weekend! Got a rate of $189 for the Plaza. Sounds perfect from reviews here. Any tips on requesting room? Tower or main hotel, etc? Thanks!

My question should have said the Palace-not the Plaza. Plaza rate for 4 was over $300.

Becky: I'm not aware that there are rooms in the main building (Villard House), I believe it is used strictly for restaurants and public space. Obviously the higher in the tower the better the views, although in today's environment it might not be the obvious choice. Rooms facing west should have a more interesting view of St. Patrick's Catherdral and Central Park.

Thanks for the info. on views. The Palace website described rooms in both sections of the hotel. Seems like the older section rooms started on the 9th floor, and didn't go as high as the tower rooms. Wish I still had my NY Access guidebook which I lost on my last trrip there! The other hotel I am considering is the Roosevelt, for $129. The Palace sounds more like a luxury experience. Thoughts?

Becky, please tell me where you got a rate of 189 for the Palace. I am thinking of staying there in April. Thank you

Becky - the Palace is really nice. The location is so convenient - right there next to St. Patricks, Rockefeller Center, Saks. The public areas are beautiful and the rooms are very comfortable. Tripled sheeted beds, down comforters and all that. I've stayed twice, both times in the towers, and neither offered much of a view. Your rate is excellent by the way.

The Roosevelt recently underwent a renovation and seems nice. But if you don't mind the extra $60, I'd take the Palace over the Roosevelt any day of the year.
