Restaurants on North Shore Kaui

Anybody have any favs on the North Shore of Kauai. I look for everything from ethnic to Hawaiian to Kids stuff. What was your experience like. All of you boo hooers that had crap food limit your remarks. I come from NYC and (I also cooked professionally for three years),I know there is good food to be had through out the islands. Yah just gotta know where to go. What do you know?

Not exactly a restaurant, but there are exceptional tropical fruit smoothies at Mango Mama's near Kilauea.

Hi,

We liked Tropical Taco and Zelo's in Hanalei. We also had a dinner buffet at the Princeville Hotel -- it was good, but it was expensive.

Thanks Chris and KT. Chris I was wondering if you were able to get a table out on the Lani (facing Hanalei Bay). If so what time did you need to get there to score one.

We also really enjoyed Zelos in Hanalei . Very well-prepared and delicious meals. Not cheap though. My entree of phyllo encrusted mahi mahi stuffed with shrimp, vegetables and crab ran about $26.95. (a la carte) We also ate lunch there which was more affordable and also delicious. Enjoy!

Stacey, Our favorite restaurant on the north is tucked into a little area on the way to the Kiluea lighthouse. I think it is called Kong Lung Shopping center. The name of the restaurant is called The Roadrunner. This is a gourmet mexican restaurant. There are murals all over the walls and I must say the menu is breathtaking. Unlike any mexican we have ever eaten. Sort of like Pacific Rim Mexican. The guacamole is absolutely to die for. The service is great, and the prices are wonderful. Hope to be there myself soon. Also, for just a quick pick me up, try the Mixed-Plate Grill in downtown Hanalei. We also are crazy about the Pau Hana Bakery in Kiluea at the same K.L. shopping center as above. There is a nice place to sit under the umbrellas and enjoy your muffin and coffee. We have eaten at all the best restaurants all over the island, but these keep calling us back for more.
