Restaurants in Kauai, Kal? Or anyone!
The thread on restaurants in Honolulu prompted me to post this. We will be in Kauai a week in Feb and would appreciate any restaurant recommendations!. We are not pickey eaters and love local fare when we travel. We will stay in a condo in Kapaa so will also do a lot of our own cooking. If you know of Farmer's Markets we would love to shop there! Any and all information is requested! Thank you!

Your first stop should be for breakfast at Kountry Kitchen!

We stayed on the North Shore. Loved Hanalei Dolphin and Postcards in Hanalei. Nice casual meal in Kalypso.

We also had a romantic anniversary dinner at Gaylords . Food good, not great, but the atmosphere was wonderful.

I'd add: Kauai Pasta ... and of course ... HAMURA'S SAIMIN!!!
I could happily eat every day at Kountry Kitchen and Hamura's. I also like the food (and views) at Scotty's BBQ--and the coconut shrimp at Shrimp Station.
On the North Shore I like Neide's for inexpensive Brazilian/Mexican with beautiful views.
Enjoy!

Back from my haircut....
Trees Lounge. Cajun fries....yummmm and a great dirty martini or so I'm told.
Wahoo's.
Eggbert's for breakfasts and good bloody Mary's.
How'd I forget about Kauai Pasta?!?!
(2 locations now)
And The Bull Shed! Good steaks/seafood and you are right on top of the ocean. Close the windows or you'll get sprayed!
Scotty's over rated BBQ IMHO. Gave it several chances, too.
We gave up on Hamura's...too many tourists. <jk>
Outside of Kapaa area...
Dani's
Rob's Goodtime Grill <sports bar by the bowling alley>
Tiano's (hope it's still open).
Kalapaki Beach Hut
Feral Pig
Duke's (Taco Tuesdays! Great salad bar too).
The Deli at Kukui Grove Shopping Ctr <name escapes me>
"The Right Slice" is an outstanding bakery I've been told.
Gaylord's or whatever the name is now was always hit/miss. Good rum next door at Koloa Rum!
Pizza Hanalei.
Neide's (love the black beans)
Wake Up Cafe
Lighthouse Bistro
Ice Cream: Tropical Dreams. I no longer eat Lapperts after Trop Dreams.Danny will take good care of you. Set aside some time...he likes to talk!
Grinds Cafe
Don't know if Waimea Brew Co is still open. Nui nachos were goooooood.
Still haven't hit Tip Top Cafe but hear good things about it.
Kiahuna Joe's (Joe's on the Green)
Jean Marie Josseliyn is back on the island and has a place at the "traffic circle.
A good Whole Foods-type of market in the same facility that is pretty good.
Beach House still geting mixed reviews.
Merriman's getting good reviews.
Like Kalaheo Coffee Co.
I'm sooooo ready.....108?

I guess my taste sucks then if you didn't like it. :'(
I'll try and do better next time.
We sometimes eat there 2-3x over a 2 week stay and usually go with our local friends.
The special on whole wheat with garlic butter and "well done".

I wanna try Jean Marie's soooo bad but it's soooooo far. Especially if you want to have a few glasses of wine/beers.

I've been looking up all the recommendations, am not done yet and I've been here for hours! Honestly, even though we have a condo, I don't think we will do much cooking! There are too many good places to eat! Yummmmmm

After banana/macadamia pancakes at Kountry Kitchen I typically walk the beautiful path that goes past Kealia Beach to try and burn some of those calories off. But I'm afraid I'd have to swim to Tahiti to get rid of all of them. ;-) Those p'cakes are so enormous that I've learned to order just one--and one of their awesome fresh fruit bowls.
And ... I'm ADDICTED to Hamura's. LOVE the chicken BBQ sticks and wonton saimin. There could never be enough tourists to keep me away!
