We live in Pacific Grove. You are getting good advice about Rocky Point. Go there for drinks in the afternoon, skip the dinner. The food is nothing to write home about.

BERNARDUS LODGE in Carmel Valley is great. We had lunch outside there last weekend. The restaurant inside is well reviewed.

Sorry: I hit the wrong key when starting on RIO GRILL.

RIO GRILL is in the Crossroads center and is excellent. We had friends from Louisana stumble on this place two weeks ago and they were raving about it to us when we met up with them. Don't let the shopping center location throw you. The place is great.

MISSION RANCH has nice ambiance. Outdoor dining or indoor. Owned by Clint Eastwood. Piano bar. Close to the Carmel Mission and overlooking the ocean in the back. Great spot for a dinner or casual burger in the afternoon.

BAG PIPER AT SPANISH BAY: We go there frequently. The piper plays for about 1 hour but not in one place. He starts at STIX RESTAURANT, walks the course and finishes at ROY'S. Great atmosphere in the entire hotel. We love it and take many visitors there for the food and view. This is one of Rupert Murdock's favorite spots. He rented the entire hotel out a few years ago for a conference. Flew in Tony Blair, Bill and Hillary Clinton and others to speak.....so the place ain't shabby!

We stayed at the Highlands Inn in Highlands Carmel. We were traveling with our family and couldn't afford the restaurant but we ate in the bar. It was the best scenery I have ever seen. I will never forget watching the sunset over the coast. The Inn is set up about a hundred feet up and you can see for miles.

We also ate breakfast there but the view from the breakfast and lunch area was not quite as good.
