restaurant with Times Square view?

We're taking our 2 boys (10 and 13)to New York for "dinner and a show" in a couple of weeks. In a previous string I saw a great idea for dinner - Foleys in the Marriot with views of Times Square at dusk. Unfortunately, Foleys looks a little expensive for our budget and a little fancy for our determinedly unadventurous sons. There's not much that would spoil my mood faster than leaving a $30 crabcake with one bite taken out of it sitting on a plate. I know there's a bazillion restaurants on or near Times Square. Are there any that offer views as well as well- prepared, moderately priced basic food?

Foley's Fish House is in the Renaissance Hotel not the Marriott Marquis.

Restaurants with a view will be expensive however, the ESPN Zone has somewhat of a view plus your boys would love the place. It is very cool and they broadcast ESPN Radio live from there.

Much better choice than Foley's Fish House.

According to the Times Square alliance website, these restaurants have a view of the New Year's ball dropping

TGI Fridays
Bubba Gump
Sbarro Pizza
Olive Garden
Foley's Fish House

I'm not a fan of those restaurants but they might fit your bill. Ellen's Stardust diner with singing wait staff (but no view) might also be fun.

I've heard about, but not visited, a McDonald's right in Times Square that's two stories and has a great view. I think that might fit within the budget!!!

Hard to find something reasonably priced with good food and a view. mclaurie's list is good (as stated these are personal recos but they do meet most of your criteria). If you should pick TGI Friday's because you know that they have food the boys will eat, be forewarned the prices in the TS location are MUCH higher than at home.

Thanks to everyone for your very helpful responses. I think we'll try the ESPN Zone since it sounds loud, crowded and cholesterol packed, all the things my sons adore.
