Restaurant in San Diego?
I am going to be in San Diego in January for a wedding and will also be celebrating an engagement of another family member. Would like to go our for a celebratory dinner with the immediate family. Can someone advise what a great restaurant might be? Open to seafood or continental possibly?
Thanks!

Great place on the waterfront called Star of the Sea, although the views aren't as good as Island Prime, the food is.
Several miles from downtown is my top S.D. pick, the The WineSellar & Brasserie, tucked back admist office buildings at 9550 Waples Street, just off Mira Mesa Blvd. No view, but great food and outstanding wine selection.

boom boom..
Star of the Sea has been closed for awhile..they are looking at doing an event center..great views and the food was pricey but good.
Love wine sellar and Gary has done such a good job but I would pass for something more with a view..
Bertrand's at Mister A's might be another place along with George's in LJ..

Agree with all the recommendations give, but also try the Marine Room in La Jolla. Right on the water and the waves splash the window. Food is excellent.
Market+Bar in Del Mar is also getting great reviews. If you want to check out some places, there is a fun san diego restaurant blog by Alice Q. Foodie. I don't have the link but if you google Alice Q. Foodie it should come up. She writes well and I find her reviews on point olus she has other great San Diego restaurant links etc.
As a side note if you are coming in january and it it is the last week of January, you should be warned that is San Diego Restaurant Week. Places have special $30/$40 menus and are great deals. I have reservations already for two places. You might want to make reservations or go to a restaurant no participating in it. Both 1500 Ocean and Oceanaire are part of the week. Again I don't have a link but you can google it. Its a great chance to try places without breaking the bank.
