Restaurant around West 75th St

Going to NYC for the marathon and staying two nights around West 75th st - can anyone recommend restaurants in the area? We like all kinds of food. Thanks

Cafe con Leche on Amsterdam and 81 or so. Good Cuban, good prices.

Genarro's on Amsterdam in the low-mid 90s. Excellent, well-priced Italian, lovely service.

Haru is decent sushi. People love it, I think you can do better, but not on the UWS. Not the best food neighborhood around.

And, of course, bagels---Zabar's.

"Rain" on W. 82nd between Columbus and Amsterdam is usually good for pan-Asian. Also you might want to try "Calle Ocho" on Columbus and 82nd. It's a very good "nuevo-latino." Both also have very popular bar scenes.

For very casual and inexpensive dining try La Caridad on Broadway at about West 80th Street (I can never remember the street). It's very popular with the locals. Grab a window seat and watch the world go by while you eat a fabulous and filling meal. Oh, it's Chinese Caribbean cuisine.

I was in NYC earlier this month. Here are my "budget selections." I had the best hot pastrami on rye (just mustard) I've EVER had at Arties Deli about 80th on Broadway. Excellent salad at a place I'm pretty sure was called American Cafe on Broadway about 76th. The restaurant above Fairway Market on Broadway at 74th was highly recommended but we didn't have a chance to get there. We stayed at the Beacon Hotel, 74th and Broadway and there were lots of restaurants around, esp. on Amsterdam and Columbus. It is a great neighborhood. Be sure to visit Fairway Market and Zabars! Have fun.
