The White Mountais of New Hampshire is very family friendly. My family flew into Boston, met other family there with two 7-yr olds and a 4-yr old and a 70-something grandmother too. We rented a Condo at Waterville Valley. There is a little village there and a pond with boat rentals. There's an indoor ice rink. There is a Curious George Cottage. There was also a children's theater, though by late August the season might be over. Franconia Notch SP is nearby and VT isn't far either. There is a small kitschy amusement park with a train ride, called Hobo Railroad. We also kayaked on the Pemigewasset river.

I posted this on your other thread:

You could meet in the middle, in Denver. Go to Devil's Thumb Ranch for the week.

It has something for everyone.

Lodging prices vary, from cabins to lodge rooms to bunkhouse rooms. All are very nice.
Food there is great. Service is spectacular. Scenery is unbeatable. Weather in August will be awesome. Horses, cows and other farm animals. Kids' activities. Hiking, zip-lining, fishing, biking. . ..

Easy day-trip to Grand Lake, or even Steamboat if you want to spend more time in the car.

You won't be sorry!

Mid-coast Maine.
When our kids were young we would stay here:

http://www.midcoastshvr.com/

Tons of activities for young and old; Popham Beach, Reid State Park,
Wolf neck Woods, Dodge Point Preserve, Fort Edgecombe, Pemaquip Point Lighthouse. Maine Maritime Museum in Bath.

Hiking, tidal pools, beaches, lobster pounds, shopping.

Portland a short drive away.

My daughter and her family which includes 2 very young kids at the time and her In laws went to Tyler Family Resort in upstate Vermont. Everyone loved it. Beautiful weather, sports, camp like activities, crafts, cooking races, you name it they had it. Kids esp loved it. Not sure what you do with a baby there, but that would be true of all the places.
Ps are the liking their neighborhood?

Bummer, sf!

How about going to Aspen? Talk about an historic, quaint town. It's gorgeous in the summertime. Lots of activities and events. Choose Aspen lodging over Snowmass.

The grande dame of hotels in Aspen, is the historic Hotel Jerome.

We have also liked The Gant condos. Walkable into Aspen, swimming, shuttles into town & back, front desk, tennis.

Tab, we've been to Aspen in winter and summer. I do love it there (and much prefer Aspen to Snowmass for accommodations, not to mention eating!)

Belinda, we love San Diego, we've been there many times (my parents lived there for many years). Also, the kids in question were just there in March!

sf, if you're interested in Grand County, where Devil's Thumb Ranch is located, there are tons of other options, of course.
Devil's Thumb Ranch owns smaller hotels in Winter Park, which give you access to the ranch, as well. The DTR site shows them on the drop down menu for lodging.

Or VRBO for a condo?

Then, there's Grand Lake, and its historic Grand Lake Lodge.

Or drive a bit further to Steamboat.

Wow. Really off-base response, inababy. The OP did not over-emphasize the kids.

And you find it necessary to warn of poopy diapers in the pool? Really?

It was and still is a legitimate question. Not being negative, just curious what exactly people are looking for when they plan trips for infants and toddlers.

Unclear the reason for a negative response rather then simply answering a question.

And I have paid hard earned money to have pools shutdown due to poopy diapers. So just brought that up because it effects everyone's vacation and not all parents are cognizant of how their choices effect others.

I think tweens and teen are harder to keep happy on vacation than babies and toddlers.

MUCH harder, I agree.

It's still nice to have a few kid-centric activities available, like the zoo or a train park, for example. The trip doesn't have to be centered around them, but shouldn't ignore them either.

As for the diapers issue, well I'm just a little more self-aware than you give me credit for (but I realize you don't know me so wouldn't know that). I hate intruding on other people's space or enjoyment.

So what are your top choices now, sf?
