Rental car or taxi

Six of us will be staying in downtown Las Vegas and will be making frequent trips to the Strip. Would it be cheaper to rent a large car/truck or to take a taxi. What would be the better bet?

Pam,

We've done it both ways and with six people you would probably be better off with the taxi for these reasons: It isn't often that six people are ready to go somewhere at the same time. Someone wants 'to play a little longer'. It's also hard to get six people that want to have meals in the same place, same time etc. Not only those things, but the Strip is a pretty big place. Will everyone want to go to the same location ON the Strip? You just might be better off using cabs.

plan on $15 to $20 from downtown to the strip depending on which end of the strip.

if your whole party can agree and yo don`t have any "make everyone late" people,I`d rent a van(small) ..if it will cause trouble go in a cab..about $20 each way..you should see if everyone is in agreement on traveling back and forth to the strip..went with a group of freinds and when it came time to go to downtown no one wanted to go..get everything straight before you rent a car...consider your transportation downtown..are you going by cab, limo,or are they sending a limo comp for you???...if it will cost you $$$ maybe rent a car/van..you sound like me..you don`t want to be stuck somewhere and have ideas on how to entertain yourself but the ringleaders want to stay one place and gamble..DON`T let them rui your trip!!!! you go to the strip and see everything YOU want you see...take the bus..I think it was $1.50..my hubby and I took it..back and forth to town at night..it was safe plenty of people..you can ride it up and down the strip to different hotels too...our transportation was taken back to the rental agency because we wanted to go to see places our FREINDS didn`t want to go..the ringleaders wanted to stay put and no one woud cross them except us..it`s your vacation too..hope this is not the case...I digress..so have a good time..if you split the car/van it would be cheap..

It sounds like bettina and xx have had the same vacation I did, only ours was with seven people, not six. The small van was rented in one person's name and he seemed to take it upon himself to become our tour director. When some of us wanted to see some of the glitzier (sp?) side of Vegas, all he wanted to do was stay at one casino and gamble. My partner and I just considered our shares of the van rental as lost money and travelled by ourselves by bus, shuttles and cabs. We met the rest of the group on the day of departure and heard sob stories all the way home (Chicago) on the plane. My advice: don't try the van bit unless you have ALL agreed to a pre-arranged itinerary, but then what fun is that? I'm for spontaniety! Whatever you decide, how about posting your experience when it's over? Have a great trip.
