Renewing my passport.

I'll be traveling in Mexico in late November and then in Europe next April.. When I get home from Mexico I'll arrange to have my passport renewed. How long does it take to get this done and have it in my possession again? Will I have it back before April?

Yes. The time it takes has gotten much shorter. From their website

http://travel.state.gov/passport/get...sing_1740.html

As of (Wednesday October 14, 2009 ), we are processing routine applications in approximately 4-6 weeks from the time of application.

Check their website -- it gives times on a daily or close to daily basis. currently it say 4-6 weeks. I have not heard of any problems with people getting passports so u should be fine. I would renew as soon as you return from Mexico just to be on the safe side.

I renewed last year. I was pleasantly surprised how quick and easy the process was. I was also happy to have my old one back a few weeks later.

In case you need it in an even shorter amount of time, you can have it expedited to within a week or two for an additional sixty dollars.
