Relaxing Florida trip for 2 moms ( without the kids)

My friend and I are in our mid thirties and are planning a 4-day weekend trip to Florida in late January. We are looking for a warm place where we can just relax on the beach and walk everywhere. A few nice shops and restaurants would be nice, but definitely not a hustle and bustle kind of place. Any suggestions?

How about Delray Beach? (great shops, eatting, beach and little shops). Singer Island?

Have fun.

Lauderdale by the Sea sounds like it's right up your alley. You can catch a cab from Ft. Lauderdale airport (or check and see if the hotels have a shuttle) and not really need a car.

Siesta Key always gets rave reviews. Hollywood Beach looks fun - it has a long boardwalk.

Desdin is beautiful and we've had a nice time in Treasure Island. Clearwater Beach always gets top marks for families.

Destin is nice but usually not in late January. You need to go far south in Florida to be guaranteed warm weather in late January.

Have you looked into Sanibel?

I vote for Lauderdale. The beach is beautiful. Better chance at acceptable weather in FLL than the midstate destinations. Las Olas is a fine stretch of restaurants, shops and cafes for adults (not the wild town South Beach scene). Plenty of acceptable hotels nearby. Have fun. Hope the weather goes your way.
