Refund - how long?
How long does a refund generally take when an airline cancels your flight? ACtually I booked it through Orbitz with a debit card, so the credit card company will not go after them although my card has a VISA logo on it. I am getting impatient and wondered about others' experience. Meanwhile, I am out $230, $20 for cancelling my hotel and a vacation...

Typically airlines as a general rule and quick to charge and slow to credit.Unfortunately.I have had credits/refunds take as long as 3 billing statements to appear. When questioned, the response has always been"Thats the way it is".

Your beef isn't with the airline though, it's with the travel agent in this case. And if you paid with a visa card, regardless of whether it's tied to your bank account, you have full rights on fraud protection. Yes, this is called fraud when a company charges you and doesn't deliver the contract.

were you unable to get booked on another flight? i have heard of others having flights cancled, and i have had it happen to myself at times. Then normaly book you automatically on another flight. I have booked a flight on orbitz before when the airline cancled the flight. they just sent me an email saying that i was on a differnet flight. (it actually worked out better for me, because, i got a better flight for the same ammount of money, but i think that is rare). i hope everything works out for you. no one likes to deal with things like that. i am sure the airline will eventually credit your account - hopefully sooner rather than later.
