I am working on arrangements for a 15 day trip to Hawaii (Maui, Big Island & Oahu) beginning of December. I was reading that with help from a good travel agent (preferably local) one can get a much better price for bundling car rental, accommodations and potentially a tour or two (we already have all the flight tickets) than doing this on my own. If anyone had a great personal experience with a very good travel agent, I'd appreciate the info.

You may not get a lot of responses to this, because most people on this forum book their own accommodations, etc. to the different islands. However, if you want information about specific accommodations, great restaurants, places to see certain things, most worthwhile tours and activities, then this is a good forum to get those answers.

It may be too late since you have the plane tickets, but two islands instead of three is plenty for 15 days. They are all large enough for a week's vacation, especially if you like beach activities.

Where have you read that? I always just plan my own trips. Especially if you already bought plane tickets, I'm not sure why you'd need or want a travel agent at this point. Hawaii's very easy to plan.

I always give my clients restaurant recommendations, tour and travel tips. there are many hotels that look good on their web site-but have problems you don't know about (like pool closures, and other things like that)
You will never pay more by going through a good travel agent, and usually less. There is usually no fee for their service, I have no idea why someone who is not experienced with their destination would try to plan on their own. Ask friends for ecommendatins

Because I am a good trip planner. If I'm going some place new-to-me I read up about it on Trip Advisor, Fodor's, and maybe pick up a guidebook.
