recommend activity/lodging

Hello,
My family of 5 (3 kids age 11,9,5) will be driving south in March.
Please recommend awesome activities and places to stay (in PA,MD,VA,WV,NC,SC).
The catcher—must be inexpensive. Just need a couple Rec. in each state.
Thanks and please don’t criticize the generality of this question.

You could have tagged more than one state in your OP instead of making several threads with the same questions.

The states you are asking about are pretty big, no. Maybe you should ask about specific towns or areas.

It sounds like you have no intention of doing any independent research, but want the answers handed to you.

vjp,
What a grumpy response. This is a travel forum,if you get your nose out of joint because someone asks a question maybe you should just not answer.Sounds like someone got up on the wrong side of the bed. The OP is trying to research by asking that question here.

Vjp is right though. That's like asking "can you give any recommendations on where to stay in the Mid-Atlantic region". Seriously...

I suggest you stay at Chestnut Creek Cabins near Galax, VA for a few days of cycling the New River Trail, hiking or fishing and catching some good bluegrass music.
If you head down I-77 from Galax, take the exit to US 52 and stop in Mt. Airy, NC to visit the Mayberry connections.
Then go from 52 to I-40 and visit the historical Old Salem. www.oldsalem.org

Have fun!

cmcfong--great suggestion. Thank you.

vjpblovesitaly--you are a very negative person. I am sorry-I ment it to be a very open ended question. Why bother wasting space with your answer. In any event- a happy and health and postitive 2009 to you and your family.

oh yes letsgo39--Thank you for the back up! Happy new year to you as well.

Jarvis, if you decide to consider my suggestions, let me know and I can suggest some places to stay or dine in those areas. Great part of the country and the kids will love it!

Drive down the Del-Mar-Va peninsula and stay in Rehoboth Beach Delaware or Bethany Beach. You should get good off season rates...

Williamsburg VA lots of history and fun. Jamestown, Yorktown, Busch Gardens if you're coming down at the end of March.
