To travel addict: I make egg in a hole (we call it egg in a frame) for the kids all the time and my solution is to make it in a large nonstick frying pan and cover it with a large lid on low heat. I monitor it carefully so as not to make the york hard, but the white is usually cooked perfectly.

Recipe for a Happy Marriage
1 cup consideration

1 cup courtesy

2 cupfuls flattery carefully concealed

1 gallon faith and trust in each other

2 cupfuls praise

1 small pinch of in-laws

1 reasonable budget, a generous dash of cooperation

3 teaspoon pure extract of "I'm sorry"

1 cup contentment

1 cup each confidence and encouragement

1 large or several small hobbies

1 cup blindness to the other's faults

Flavor with frequent portions of recreation and a dash of happy memories. Stir well and remove any specks of jealousy, temper or criticism. Sweeten well with generous portions of love and keep warm with a steady flame of devotion. Never serve with cold shoulder.

I doubt budman needs this- starrsville
on the other hand....

Recipe for having happy fodorite friends:

When ordering beer for oneself, look around the table and see who else maybe empty that is furiously trying to flag down the same waitress you are ordering from.

Budman - thank you for providing the scientific rationale for the intuitively recognizable truth that people who do not drink beer are FOS. Start looking for cheap fares to Stockholm, for this is surely Nobel worthy work.

Thanks Scarlett & Maggi for the egg in the hole tips - I tried cutting the hole with a glass and using a lid while frying it, and it worked! No runny white stuff!

Now, Scarlett, if you'll just share that chocolate hazelnut panini recipe, maybe I could try my hand at that too!

Haggis Recipe:

Sheep's pluck (heart, lung, liver)
Sheep's paunch (stomach)
2 Tbs salt
1 Tbs white pepper
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1 pound mutten suet
1 large onion, chopped
6 oz. oatmeal, toasted
1 pint beef stock

Clean paunch well and turn inside out. Boil the pluck until tender. (Hang the lung's opening over the edge of the pot to allow drainage of impurities into another pot).

Grate the liver and chop rest of meat into fine pieces. Mix the meats with the spices, onions, suet, and oatmeal. Mix in the stock and then stuff into the paunch. Leave extra room to allow for expansion of oatmeal.

Boil for three hours.

Enjoy!

Jolie left out the part where you have to drink copious amounts of Scotch or the whiskey of your choice while cooking, in order to be able to eat the dish

Scarlett--While haggis isn't bad, it is best to convince yourself you are eating something else at the time. So the whisky is a great idea!

How do I edit my post? I agree, a bottle of whiskey should be a required ingredient - to be drunk while consuming the haggis!
